Technology is going to revolutionize the tabletop gaming industry. Let’s look at some awesome pieces of tech that are going to send gaming INTO THE FUTURE!
The ePawn Arena
A 26″ screen that lies flat on your table, the ePawn Arena accurately detects specific magnetic nodes that you place on your miniatures. The Arena does so well and tracks so quickly that you are able to play a fast-paced game like virtual air hockey on it. When you use your miniatures and certain software, it will detect which way your miniature is facing, even determining line of site and areas of effect for your spells. It’s pretty incredible technology. Check out the video below of the Arena in action.
Microsoft Surface
This is something that is way too expensive and way too awesome. It’s basically the giant supervillain screen you’ve always wanted.
eReaders
The Amazon Kindle, the Barnes and Noble Nook, and the iPad (and other various tablets) are making it easier to carry that big stack of rulebooks around. PDFs are probably the future of rulebooks, and I say, good. Having something that is easily searchable will make looking up specific rules that much easier.
Google Hangout
Google+ is pretty abysmal, but it’s one shining light is Google Hangout. This nifty piece of software can bring gamers from across the world together in one place. Word is, a bunch of work is being done on various social tools for Hangout to make roleplaying that much easier. I hope these come to fruition soon.
PopAble Dice
Tired of always rolling your dice off the table? Do they get stuck between the couch cushions all the time? Attacks of Opportunity PopAble Dice are for you.
All right, what awesome gaming tools do you guys out there use that I missed?
