When Exactly is the Steam Summer Sale 2012?

by

Well guys it is officially the summer, and that means one thing to every PC and Mac gamer: Steam Summer Sale! Every summer Steam, the digital distribution platform developed by Valve, has an impossibly cheap sale with tons of games. Triple A titles can go for less than ten dollars and slashing the price of games by far more than half is normal when it comes to this amazing sale. There is only one problem this year: it hasn’t happened.

Gabe Newell being the nice guy he is

This year, with the sale now weeks overdue, Gabe Newell, managing director of Valve, has yet to say anything concerning the sale. Fans are getting restless and tons of rumors are sweeping through the Internet regarding when the sale will be.

The incredible sale normally begins on one of the last Thursdays in June. Not to add to the speculation and rumors, but it would make sense for the sale to begin on July 5th or more likely the 12th. Supposedly a developer leaked that it would begin on the 12th. In any event I’ll try not to spread too many rumors.

So what is going on here? Gabe Newell is famous not only for his insanely low prices and sales, but also for his ability to troll his fans. He’s dropped subtle hints about Half Life 3 and often holds back information about upcoming games. It seems he’s at it again. I can’t blame him though. Every time he pulls one of his famous stunts the fans go mad with anticipation. Luckily for Gabe he always delivers what the fans want… eventually.

In the mean time, if you utterly can’t wait for the Steam sale, you might want to focus your attention on Amazon.com, who recently made a video game sale of their own. They’ve been slashing prices consistently by 50%-80%. I have to say, I’m impressed with some of the deals there. Some of the highlights include a bundle of 13 games by Paradox Interactive for just $19.99 and Dragon age 1 and 2 for just $9.99. If you’re low on cash and can’t wait for Steam to get their sale up and running then Amazon has some great deals for you.

Regardless of how long Gabe Newell makes us wait two things are for certain: The prices will cause money to drain out of your pockets at an alarming rate, and The Steam sale will be a huge success with tons of amazing deals that you couldn’t believe.

  1. you used the wrong form of “their”

    • Good job, being on the internet too long has taught you that the wrong spellings and grammar usages are actually the correct ones.

  2. Actually, no, all the uses of “their/there” are correct. “Steam to get their sale” is possessive, “sale of their own” is also possessive, “There is only one problem” is prepositional, “some of the deals there” is also prepositional.

  3. Godjesus bless you, spelling nazi.

  4. I thank God every day for the brave allied men who are willing to risk internet dignity to point out the incorrect ways of spelling nazis everywhere.

  5. Damn you spelling allies the spelling nazis are only trying to do right and stop this madness of bad grammar
